  • Continuing touring with Bump, but now with Curtis Fowlkes replacing Ray Anderson, Previte records a new CD while on tour on the US west coast. This is released by Palmetto in 2002 as “Counterclockwise,” perhaps the finest recorded statement in that band’s illustrious history.

"Counterclockwise has that anti-social dissonance that has defined some of the best hip-hop. It's all about the buzz you get when music really crashes through your speakers, and I suppose the most important thing about Counterclockwise is that it has a tremendous sense of unapologetic, menacing weight." about

A hard, funky, aggressive CD by The Vintage Bump band at the height of their powers, and the second record for Palmetto.

“Counterclockwise has that anti-social dissonance that has defined some of the best hip-hop. It’s all about the buzz you get when music really crashes through your speakers, and I suppose the most important thing about Counterclockwise is that it has a tremendous sense of unapologetic, menacing weight.”

Conceptually, I always wanted to do a record like this. It's in two alternating parts. Part 1 is essentially the same music but written in a modular fashion and arranged differently each take. The arrangements were not done on paper. Rather, through a shouted "code" of cities and states, I made up the arrangements on the fly, never to be exactly repeated. You can hear them in the background. This "suite" of the same basic music is interspersed with Part 2, pieces that have nothing at all do do with Part 1, nor with each other.
