In 2001 Previte acquires the ddrum3, a massive steel sampling box specially made for electronic pads (after making just 600 units, The Clavia company abandons the instrument as “too difficult” to play and program). Three years later, he creates an electronic landscape of music that, while not specifically drum sound based, nevertheless exists and is completely informed by the physical limitations of a real drummer. Played completely live, no loops, no laptop, and no overdubbing, each sound is earned through the sweat equity of striking a pad.
